At the heart of healing lies transformation
ABOUT US
Nicole Rikos is a somatic psychotherapist and trauma specialist counsellor, who works with women from all stages of life.
Her areas of specialist experience include adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and developmental trauma. This has led Nicole to a greater awareness of the unique needs of people with complex trauma and the intricacies of the traumatic stress response.
Nicole has worked with non-government organisations providing trauma informed therapy to survivors of complex trauma and facilitated psychoeducational groupwork and skills-based workshops.
Background
About Nicole
In Nicole’s private practice she provides individual therapy for adult women who have experienced a range of life challenges including abuse and / or attachment ruptures in childhood. She supports women with chronic stress, anxiety, fragmentation, grief and loss and relational issues to restore their nervous system health, reclaim and embody their power, trust their inner wisdom and live a more aligned life.
Nicole has been developing her skills in the areas of intergenerational trauma, ancestral stories, birth, prenatal and perinatal imprints. She participates in ongoing professional training in the areas of trauma, somatics and attachment psychology and is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute (SETI).
She combines elements of talk therapies with somatic modalities providing an integrative approach to therapy that engages the relationship between mind, body, brain and behaviour.
Approach
Nicole’s approach to therapy is body oriented, trauma informed and attachment focused. She embodies a sense of safety, calm, connection and trust that facilitates this work.
Sessions focus on understanding your body’s response to traumatic experiences, and emotional distress. Bringing an awareness of the body into therapy in this way moves you beyond cognitive and emotional roadblocks. This facilitates an experience of wholeness and promotes healing from the inside out.
Nicole creates a therapeutic space that is empathic and understanding. She holds compassionate space for self-inquiry and encourages her clients to develop new behaviours and ways of being that are self-led and authentic for them. When we become active participants in our own healing we are empowered to cultivate lasting changes. This helps better navigate life’s daily stressors and live with more confidence, connection and ease.
